At one point it seemed that Steve Bowes was in line to beat the all-time MFYL goal-scoring record - 33 league goals in a season. A fall-off in his strike rate towards the end of the season, however, meant that he did not quite make it. His achievement in scoring 42 goals in all competitions, though, is a superb record.

It proved to be an excellent season for our Youth team who participated in the Midland Floodlit Youth League for the first season. Widely acknowledged as the best youth league in the region, the MFYL is split into four divisions - a Premier and three feeder divisions. We were put into the Western Division - and promptly took it by storm, winning by seven points.
